What would you do? Blue Clove Polyps

I used fenben infused fish flakes every few days for a month and it didn’t kill anything other than a Green Star Polyp colony which retracted shortly after the very first dose and never recovered even after being moved to a separate tank within 24 hours. I wasn’t trying to kill BSP (I don’t...

Solving Bubble Algae and Aiptasia Issue in Nano Reef Tank?

Agreed with the suggestions above that for a tank that size, complete reset or something similar is likely least painless route. I would rank that as relatively low effort and better than continually dealing with uglies and pests for weeks on end.

    Growing copepods

Looks great! I will at some point in the next few months make a purchase (after I do a cycle of Interceptor on tank). I will post pics to the forum.

    Invictus’ ‘25 Budget Build

Did you manage to get the turf algae under control? I had that kind of turf algae once and it was a huge pain.

    Black Friday deals

20 years ago before Amazon and online shopping took over the electronics market I stood in line after Thanksgiving dinner for a few hours to buy a large screen TV at BestBuy. I only did that once but it was a very memorable and fun time since it was like a subdued party waiting along with my...

    Black Friday deals

It is a good deal for those who get the deal though :) One deal I messed up on was BRS had a sale on Nyos Salt + ATI ICP test for 50% off last week. I hesitated and within a few hours the deal was sold out. I would have otherwise bought 5 buckets + ICP at a massive discount. The fact that...

    Black Friday deals

Wow there are are great deals here. Too bad I am in SoCal for the week. I assume there won’t be much left when I get back. The Blochy Anthia sale is very attractive. My only hesitation is whether my Bimacs will fight with the Blochy. If so I would likely need to rehome.

    Bulk quantity Pellets ?

Agreed. The TDO pellets in my auto feeder loses its bright orange coloring over time. I have since reduced the amount out into the auto feeder in hopes it is more tasty for the fish. The rest of the TDO is in a sealed container in the fridge.

    Bulk quantity Pellets ?

Check out BrineShrimpDirect. They sell 10-15 pound buckets. I am sure they could sell you larger if you reached out to them directly. https://www.brineshrimpdirect.com/pellets-and-wafers-sinking-and-floating/

    Hyposalinity

Glad to hear you plan to up your QT game! I currently medicated QT all my fish for at least a month. For coral I am pretty selective with what I add. When I do add the coral sits on a frag rack for at least a month and I dip in KCl once a week (dip I use for both softies and SPS). I don’t...

Hair algae, what inverts should I get??

I had a lawnmower Blenny that was great at eating algae. Unfortunately once my tank matured there was not much algae for him or the 9 large turbo snails I had to eat. The Blenny passed away and I rehomed the turbo snails

Hair algae, what inverts should I get??

If looking for snails some combination of Turbo, Trochus and Asterina would likely help. I try not to keep too many Turbos since they can get large in size (that means they are doing their job) and my tank has historically gotten to a point where there is little algae on the rocks and I fear...

    Growing copepods

I used to grow phyto but the room the basic setup was in gotten taken to be an office over unfortunately. I want to see if I can grow copepods without an air line and without feeding live phyto. I believe it should be possible but will see! I know this is not optimal setup but I only need...

    Growing copepods

I have ordered copepods from Algae Barn, Reef Nutrition, Reef Cleaners, Reef by Steele, and Dinkin’s Aquarics. The only vendor where I didn’t like the quality was Reef by Steele, but when I sent in a compliant I got a refund immediately. I may have just got a bad batch. I generally believe...

    What’s Your Favorite Sand?

I have had the sand in my tank for 20 months now and haven’t noticed anything odd in the ICP test. I agree that live sand (from the ocean) can look fantastic. I spent a lot of time looking at threads and videos on the Tampa Bay Saltwater live sand and almost went that route since some of the...

    Growing copepods

The most pods I have ever had in my tank was 2-3 months in when I had ulva growing in my refugium and the only fish I had were not pod eaters (ie, a pair of clownfish, tang, rabbit fish, and a hawkfish). I had os many pods I could see them crawling all over the glass, mostly by the sand bed...

    Growing copepods

I don’t think adding phyto increases algae growth. I used to for my own phyto. I once dumped close to a gallon of high concentration phyto into my 125 gallon system and it actually caused phosphate levels to drop within 24 hours and the water and rocks looked crystal clear.
