I assume your tank would have been much older at the time this sample was taken, would i be correct in saying so? I took my sample from the my the inside of my return nozzles, which at that time, were fairly clean due to the age of the system. Although you may have added only a couple sources...

I've done both. TankDNA once and microbiome twice. TankDNA test was done mainly to see if I had uronema present after adding fish. Luckily I've been pretty fortunate and haven't added any fish since. I probably wont be repeating this test, as I didn't find much use for the rest of the data. I...

    Patrick's 81G - the last dance

Alot thinner too. Compared to the wires on the gyre, you can run these anywhere. When I had the stand designed I worried about the light arms sagging, so I had them cut with counterbores reinforced with two 90 degree plates on solid 1.5" 80/20. I was able to hang on it, mid bar, with minimal...

    Patrick's 81G - the last dance

The tunze have a wire channels on the wet side magnet that you can loop the cord around then easily channel it in any direction. I have the cord running the top and just above the gyre, it makes it less of an eyesore. I wish they made the cord black instead of bright blue tho. For the flow they...

Frozen food choice and have you had any issues?

My CBB is in a tank full of greedy A holes. Anthias and a couple tangs make short work of anything that goes through the feeders, so my window of feeding the CBB is fairly slim and when the others are already stuffed. Hopefully the price on the AF4 drops tomorrow.

Frozen food choice and have you had any issues?

I use Rods when I need to get my PO4 up. It's been a while, but still have it. The chunky pieces go to my nems, although I have experienced issues with that after using the herbivore blend. I feed my CBB daily with piscine mysis. Drop in a chunk to a feeding cup and let it thaw in tank. He...

    Patrick's 81G - the last dance

Ran the wires while I wait for the snow to clear. The light spill is ridiculous, so I'm going to need some lenses to cut that down.

Out of the ICPs ive tried, I like oceamos and ATIs. I plan on stocking up a years worth once the code is active. As for the geo reactor, I agree, its beautiful. Exactly what id run if I went the ozone route. I just lack the space for its footprint underneath my stand if I were to pair it with a...

    Patrick's 81G - the last dance

I'm hoping so brotha. I'm wishing I had the dimensions of your 112 to fit more right about now haha. The stags will definitely cut into the swimming space with their upward growth. I'm thinking about swapping those out for more plating acros before I get too attached to them. If I could get...

    Patrick's 81G - the last dance

I'm not sure if id want the cure if there was one..haha..I should consider myself fortunate that I ran out of space, especially with the holidays coming up. I do need to clear up the ones left on the sand. Restraint seems to be harder to practice than patience nowadays. :p

    Thinking about switching salt

I would focus on your main elements and organics first. Salinity and alk- both of these should be rock solid and you have a good feel for your consumption. Adding traces changes their consumption and not having a good idea of your tanks swing can make it a moving target. Ca,mg - similar to...

    Patrick's 81G - the last dance

A little over 10 month update. Corals are starting to grow in and I'm beginning to realize some of the placement is not ideal. Shading has become a problem and things are already require a bit of a haircut. Getting tools in there to cut is already pretty tight and I imagine things getting even...

    Thinking about switching salt

FWIW there have been MANY successful reefs maintained with the good old IO. POTO uses IO and they achieve colors i strive for. Even the best salt in the world (whatever it may be) couldn't hold a candle to good husbandry and knowing your system. As long as you find the one that fits your...

    Thinking about switching salt

One other thing to note is that this salt is super fine. It mixes well and clean, but if pouring it into a dry bucket of scooping it out, watch those clouds..my eyes learned the hard way. Out of the mixes I've tried: HW Wein, Tropic Marin Pro, RPM blue, & Nyos...AF has one of the cleanest...

    Thinking about switching salt

I use AF reefsalt and have found it fine. I test alk when doing water changes to avoid swings and find them to be pretty consistent at 8 DKH when mixed to 1.026 with the TM hydrometer. It lacks vanadium, selenium, flouride, and bromine, so If traces matter heavily to you, know you'll have to...
