    Dealing with lyngbya

Just to clarify Gresh, was this systemic dosing or just dipping? I'm trying to find the protocol but no luck.

    Original Mummy Eye Chalice

I'll try it again. I remember having a massive chunk I sold on eBay back in the chalice craze days, should be easy to keep going.

    Tyree 500 dollar efflorescens

@Thales mentioned that it's an aefw magnet so keep an eye on them as a canary. The piece I picked up from him was like a brick, they really lay down skeletons!

    Dealing with lyngbya

77F, flow is pretty good after cleaning but of course they clog up with Lyngbya. Everything else is standard targets. Dosing traces in my 3 part and my last ICP showed traces and minor elements within normal ranges. Only other dosing is ammonium bicarb, which started after this has been a problem.

Yeah definitely switch to the LiFePO4 chemistry that I used, way safer and will last a decade. It's also way lighter too.

    Dealing with lyngbya

I've been anywhere from 0ppm nitrate with 0.4ppm phosphate 4 months ago to 15 ppm nitrate and 0.09 phosphate currently, zero effect on the lyngbya. Dipping isn't an option since my rock structures are huge, plus these things grow on walls, sand, sump, etc. So I need something systemic. All...

    A Macro Cube

Everything in there probably is sucking up all the fish waste for now (rocks included). Once they saturate you should see numbers go up. In the meantime you could cut back water changes, save some time. Just don't want to end up with a dinoflagellaten mess.

    Dealing with lyngbya

Did a search here and online but not everyone agrees on a clear treatment. For those unfamiliar, Lyngbya sp. is a cyanobacterium that looks like hair algae. In fact I always thought it was hair algae that nothing liked to eat until I ran across it in an old post somewhere. It doesn't have a...

    High calcium

You find what your Mg consumption rate is then calculate how much your evaporation rate is, then dissolve the Mg in there at the concentration you need. To make your own powder stock (Randy's recipe), recipe is 3 cups MgSO4 (epsom salts) to 5 cups MgCl (mag flake). It will soak up water from the...
