Jump starting the skimmer on co2 recirc set ups

The standard Reef Octopus recirculating CO2 scrubber setup is through the skimmer cup, so this should generally be feasible and enables the beneficial effect from the recirculation, i.e., significantly longer lasting media. I do not think the ‘air in’ should come from the silencer, which in my...

Jump starting the skimmer on co2 recirc set ups

I do not think this is setup up correctly Lawrence / @L/B Block - maybe i am misreading this though: It should go like this: Skimmer cup -> Scrubber -> Silencer This way there should be no issue with turning off the skimmer. I surprised you are seeing a PH improvement with your current setup.

Protein Skimmer Smell (Smells Like Death!) – How Do You Combat It?

I do the same (but mainly due to use of ozone). But helps with the smell too.

My first Fish copper Qt treatment

I agree that suggesting alternatives should not be discouraged, and downsides of widely applied methods called out. However, @Slingfox point was more on the outlined risk from using copper being hyperbolic and that is probably correct (although I am not sure if this applies to all types of...

Red Sea Max Nano G2 XL

The RS LED 50 light settings? I did not find them to be too complicated to adjust. It really depends on how much PAR you need and how blue you like your tank. There are certainly many other reasons to join this forum :).

Has anyone seen a Zeolith reactor for purchase that looks like this?

The issue with this device though is that it seems very effective, almost too much. Some folks getting their triple digit nitrates down to single-digit numbers, which can become a problem too, but it can be controlled by the number of daily flushes, or turning it off if needed. This only helps...

Has anyone seen a Zeolith reactor for purchase that looks like this?

Fauna makes them, but I assume they are getting them from somewhere (in Asia?). https://www.faunamarincorals.de/ZeoMatic-2-4-5l/18310V

Has anyone seen a Zeolith reactor for purchase that looks like this?

The one on the picture does not require this daily agitation, which is what the second pump is for. Hence the price tag, which is over 600 EUR / 660 USD….:(. I am using aquaforest zeolite in a regular media reactor, and my nitrate dropped to 7, without additional agitation.

Has anyone seen a Zeolith reactor for purchase that looks like this?

I cannot find it to purchase anywhwere in the US, but I assume it is a rather old school device, so I cannot believe it is not being sold at all. Please let me know if you have seen this anywhere. Thanks!

    Patrick's 81G - the last dance

The roller just reduces the effect of the skimmer, so it is not a surprise that your nutrients go down with its removal. I currently have a similar issue with ozone. Good idea to remove the algae reactor also.

    Dan's RSR-S 850 Mixed Reef

I appreciate you recognizing the effort you put into the success you have. I often see folks downplaying this, mostly for odd reasons, sometimes just misremembering all the small things, referring to easy reefkeeping while there are no shortcuts to success unless it aims for short-term success <...
