Eheim heaters were the go to back in the day. Just put the glass in the water , not the head unit as there’s a rubber seal in the head part.

I’m gonna say that gfci might be bad. I still don’t see how you can pull 15 amps from that small aquarium unless your heater is bad causing the gfci to trip. That’s the only intermittent unit correct ? Crank the heater up and plug it in. Then sit there and see if it trips the breaker
