    Light upgrade?

Beautiful light which doesn’t get enough attention from the hobby. I am sure the tank lighting is going to look fantastic!

My first Fish copper Qt treatment

Keep up the good work. The most risky period is first 48 hours of quarantine. You are well past that so the end is just around the corner!

Need Help to Move 112g Aquarium — Saratoga

Thanks Michael. I appreciate it! Hopefully we can do it Sunday then. I will look into the suction cups. The large ones are way far out in Tracy, CA. Will see if the smaller ones are nearer. If not then I will pick another pair up.

Need Help to Move 112g Aquarium — Saratoga

RedSea has agreed to replace my RedSea Reefer 525 G2 since its seams are failing. They are sending a Reefer 525 G3—the display tank portion only. The display tank is 275 pounds. I need help swapping out the display tank. The old tank will need be placed in a large Yellow Sack on the front...

I found four Aiptasia in my 90 :(

I believe the best option for pest free chaeto is a seller that specializes in selling macroalgae and specifically advertises that they sell pest free chaeto.

Protein Skimmer Smell (Smells Like Death!) – How Do You Combat It?

I have a drain line on my skimmer cup so I can empty it once a week or every few days without cleaning out the cup. I clean out the cup once a month or so—it smells bad but isn’t too terrible. I feed mostly rinsed frozen food with a small amount of TDO pellets. I run both carbon and ozone but...

I found four Aiptasia in my 90 :(

For that size tank the File Fish is a better bet since it can do well in smaller tanks. A 90g is probably the smallest I would go for a CBB. Even with my 5 ft tank I put in a clam a week to make sure my CBB gets enough to eat. He eats from the water column like my other fish but it can be...

I found four Aiptasia in my 90 :(

When I first got aptasia, it was only on one rock at a specific location. I kept killing it but it would eventually reappear off and one for 3-4 months. Eventually the aptasia spread all over the rockwork. I tried peppermint shrimp and my Hawkfish ate them. I bought Bergia and my wrasse had a...

My first Fish copper Qt treatment

“one mistake can kill all your fishes at once” is hyperbolic. When fish die in medicated quarantine it is unlikely primarily due to the copper level and rather some other issues such as ammonia, stress, handling of fish that are sick and vulnerable, etc. Plenty of people quarantine fish in...

My first Fish copper Qt treatment

I used to do TTM. I find medicated quarantine to be much easier. Copper is not difficult to deal with at all. I still have the setup to do TTM (two separate but identical QT tanks + jugs of disinfectant) but prefer the copper route which I find very laid back / chill to run. Particularly in...

    Pitho Crabs

I have never had any issues with pitho crabs attacking fish or anything else. I wish I could find them more easily since they are great at eating algae. I am not sure why by pithos seem more sensitive and don’t survive as long in my tank vs. emerald or hermit crabs who are very resilient.

    Happy Wife

That store is fantastic. Very fun place to bring the kids given the large collection of animals!

    Trustworthy?

He gave them to a friend who resold them. Promise kept and problem solved. You can sleep easy now! On a serious note, I have a bunch of junk laying around. I should really give it away at some point! If it shows up on marketplace I would not be pleased!

Quick ICP head to head results

I was listening to one of the reefing podcasts recently. They had two persons on who do ICP consulting for Fauna Marin. Both of them said that the majority of cases they help on involve tanks where the salinity is off. Most people in the hobby use cheap-o refractometers. Those are basically...

Quick ICP head to head results

I have had the VeeGee for close to two years now. I have recalibrated it twice and each time needed to make zero adjustment. Here is the salinity from the last ATI ICP-MS I did a few months ago.

    Light upgrade?

In terms of value per dollar it’s hard to beat ReeFi Unos (would need to turn the light down since that unit outputs very high par). ReefBreeders are also good value per dollar. The NiCrew you have grow coral just fine so any change would be looking to get nicer lights which costs $
