I was wondering that, because the skimmer in my 30 has an air valve. Yet the bigger skimmer did not. I did do some research and my particular model likes 8-9" of water depth. Currently my sump is 10.5" deep. So I think a 2" stand will put it in range.... And if I can't get it to tune I will try...
