    UV sterilizer precipitate buildup

    My buddy changed his bulb and found a huge amount of build up on the quartz sleeve. It was soft but too thick to break off by hand, so used bone cutter to gently remove. The big chunks mostly dissolved in tap water. Anyone have a guess of what is the precipitate and the cause?

    my xenia fuge needs a prune since I'm bottoming out my no3/po4. scraping the ones off the glass so won't be mounted and can bring to the 10/19 swap. one advantage of xenia over macro fuge, bristleworms seem to prefer eating gracilaria over xenia.
