Help ressurect neglected tank - Long post alert.

Yay for removing star polyps and doing it the sensible way by dumping the rock (instead of wasting time scraping it away only for it to come back). Echoing what others said you have plenty of sand to support things without the rock, but do a 50% water change and siphon the sand really well to...

Improving my coral fragging - coral glue accelerator

Make sure to use the insta-set with lots of ventilation and rinse it off frags well before putting frags in your tank. I stopped using the sprayer and use a small pipette to put a drop or two where I need it.

    Complete Bonus/Ultra Coral List - 2024 Current

Can anyone explain that something besides infection or defect is causing the bounce in “bounce zoas”?

    FYI trident service backlog

They sent a corrected bill (not itemized like yours though) Saturday, and I paid, but have not seen any next steps (like a shipped notice).

    FYI trident service backlog

I just got this with a message that I needed to pay it within 9 days for my Trident to ship back. It looks like you got an actual itemized bill. I'm hoping to hear back with an explanation why it's not $145+tax although the two Tridents I sent in were tune-up cases - one had a leaky hose (as I...

So you got a bill for the send-and-repair service you sent around 3/20?I finally got a bill yesterday for my send and repair that arrived there 3/5 but it was for $187 and they have not replied yet to explain why it’s not $145 (or $145+tax) so I can’t get it sent back yet. How much did they...

    FYI trident service backlog

I'm going to stay away from Trident repairs! I've repaired two EB8xxs no issues, but i think I would break my Trident if I tried to repair it (because I might throw it on the floor in frustration). I have to admit I missed my Trident - I was in the middle of switching Ca additives when my...

Osaka, Japan: Aquarium and Coral Shop

That’s interesting… I wonder how they hold up to urchins and bristletooth fish.

    Chromis’s 90g Acropora tank

Thank you! Upgrade? Maybe when this last chromis finally kicks and I’d just have the yellow tang and 2 clowns left to move…

    Chromis’s 90g Acropora tank

I finally made an effort to remove the encrusting monti that was creeping along the bottom front seam. It may be the reason that bottom front seam hasn’t failed… it’s cemented together by a foot of coral skeleton. I could not even remove most of it, just couldn’t get the edge of a razor under...

    The Mangrove Seahorse Hitching Post

That’s such a cool setup! Good idea to try lots of macroalgaes and see what takes. I didn’t know seahorses would accept non-live foods.

That's correct at least for repair services, both the send-and-repair and advanced trident repair options ship to/from Bethlehem, PA.

Thanks @ashburn2k for the heads up. I was just thinking about posting my recent repair times for the public good since I got one back today, meanwhile I hope Neptune Systems will start publishing turn around times on their Trident service page (or maybe it's there but I couldn't find it). It...

I can’t wait to see how the center tanks look under those public-aquarium-grade ceiling lights. Are those Kessil W-series?

    Clean up crew lifespans?

My tuxedo urchins have done ok - I think I’ve had some maybe 6 years now. I have a mix of wild and captive bred. I haven’t tried other species.

    Newbie 8g tank

Can you replace the (glass?) lid with a mesh screen to increase gas exhange? The pH is too low (7.4) which reinforces @phc567 hypothesis that oxygen is low /CO2 is high because it could cause low pH. I guess an air bubbler would work with the glass lid but they are noisy and probably not a good...

Hobby ICP study - Evaluating the Repeatability and Differences between ICP Tests

Thanks @Thales for sharing this study! The mathematical rigor really helps with perspective. Did you send out sterilized salt water samples? I wonder if there is a difference between samples that have been sitting in the collection vial for different amounts of time - I usually overnight my...
