KCL Potassium Chloride Spray Instead of Dip

Interested in hearing more details, following along. I haven’t used it as a spray but if I did I’d go for 5-10 min like is recommended for KCl dip. And I’d make sure it stays wet, which would mean spraying multiple times.

    Sunrun/PGE Solar Panels

Yeah that’s pretty much how Tesla treats people. Disorganized, poor communication, they don’t give you anything to go on. Notice it’s not even signed with a name or dept to allow you to ask for more info. Even with customer service, they expect you to figure out the problem yourself by googling...

    Need larger skimmer

The club has PAR meters to borrow. I have one available in Walnut Creek. Where are you? All your info is hidden in your profile, if you let it display and fill out some basic details it helps people help you.

    Need larger skimmer

My system is very similar size (Red Sea Reefer 750) and I’ve been happy with my Reef Octopus Regal 200INT skimmer for years.

Sodium Hydroxide(NaOH) for Alk & pH

Yeah I’m not personally too worried about it because I am very familiar with the required safety precautions and have experience with it for other uses. But I just wanted to point out that handling it in discrete intervals with full attention paid is different than having it run unattended for...

Sodium Hydroxide(NaOH) for Alk & pH

I don’t dose with it, but lots of people do. Regarding the effect on pH, it’s the same ratio of pH effect relative to how much alkalinity you are adding compared with kalkwasser CaOH2. So you’ll get the same boost as you would with kalkwasser as an alkalinity additive. You can make NaOH much...

ATO siphon issue - how to fix?

Also if you use kalkwasser you can dose the approximate amount of evaporative loss you have so that you almost never need to have your ATO on, decreasing noise/risk. ;)

ATO siphon issue - how to fix?

When it comes to preventing unwanted siphons when unattended, you need to be able to be 100% sure. The problem with relying on poking a hole in the tubing, or probably the Red Sea siphon break thing, is that the tiniest clog of the siphon break hole and then you have an unexpected siphon again...

    Triton method discussion

It’s funny that coloration is what triggers interest in K levels when it is one of the most important ions in healthy animal physiology including corals. Too high and too low are very bad for cells

    Avast Marine Plank

I have 2 Planks in service. One for SF freeze dried Mysis plus small amount of Reef Jerky. Second for pellets- about half medium size TDO (EP-1) and the other half whatever other pellets I have like Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 or various ones I’m trying. The main reason I have 2 Planks is that I...

    Triton method discussion

I wouldn’t dose ground up rock salt to my tank for what it’s worth if that’s what you have for KCl dip. It might be fine or it might not be.

    Triton method discussion

I haven’t used any that I dislike. Potassion works well, probably others do too. Just dose a lot less than you think you need and retest. You don’t want to overshoot. The only way to lower K is massive water changes.
