    Phosphates in straight RODI water?

I just want to let you know that the issue WAS that while the sediment filter looked good to the eye, it needed to be changed. Changed this out and boom I am within the margin of error for phosphates. 0.2 For the record I went with a 1/2 micron filter.

    BRS acquired Marine Depot

Good on BRS. If you can't beat your competitor acquire them, and then gut the company.

That's a great idea. I am going to look into a wine cooler fridge. What do you think of the italian made / medical grade BRS dosing units?

I think it's very focused. We are discussing alternative parts that we can make this more affordable to the average reefer. I think your system is great except that the fridge/doser are unnecessarily expensive. I think we can find alternatives to drive the price down while keeping functionality...

    Phosphates in straight RODI water?

So based on reading these articles I can conclude that the Hanna checker just isn’t accurate enough for straight rodi water testing.

I’d use the term “suggested”. It remains unknown if the alternative dosers will stand up to the rigors of a fridge environment. Also, what other automatic feeding sollutions are there for food that must be refrigerated. I haven’t come across any.

That’s not at all my point. My point was to make this more affordable to the avarage reefer.

I should have looked more closely at the "cost" post, because it doesn't include the 450.00 doser that's needed. This will be a 600-700 dollar affair. I can't speak for all but this is a "nice to have", and for many out of financial feasibility. I can think of other uses where 600-700 dollars...

    Phosphates in straight RODI water?

I have been chasing a higher than normal Phosphates issue in my tank. I tracked it down to the RODI water that I was using. The unit is 1 year old on membrane #1 and 6 months on membrane #2. The carbon block 1 micron filters have both been replaced. The Sediment 1 micron filter looks nearly...

Do it yourself air to water cooler brain storming.

hmm. Well I could try a standard 12 inch box fan above a 32 gallon brute. Use a small capacity sicce pump then measure how much the fan cools down the water . If it turns out to be a viable sollution I can program the apex to switch on and off the pump/fan.

Do it yourself air to water cooler brain storming.

Erin, I was so excited about this possibility, and then I saw that it costs as much as a chiller itself. 750 + 20% VAT

I am going to mock up the fans (once they get here) and see what the temperature difference is based on diffrent ducting and air flow design.

The fridge stays about 37 degrees. Really the only way to make the fridge/chiller viable is using metal. Metal is a great heat exchanger whereas plastic is an insulator.

Has anyone fed their tangs this seaweed?

I bought a bunch the seaweed at the Korean market … fish never ate it and it turned the water brown/red. I gave up and bought the overpriced hikari brand. No issues.

Do it yourself air to water cooler brain storming.

thanks michael. The only reason why I would consider a home made chiller method is it also will be my live food doser . I’ll try out these industrial fans first. I have four of them Comming and they are ip67. If I like the results I will custom mount them in the light canopy and provide the...

@Srt4eric I looked inside a jbj chiller and basically what they did was coiled the pipe with the coolant around a stainless steel pipe. That stainless steel pipe is what the aquarium water flows through. It appears the heat exchanger has copper line.
