    Sad euphyllia - any takers?

Give it a shot! Got any big turbos or other algae eaters? Trying to deal with hair algae in the tank I'm taking care of at work.

    Sad euphyllia - any takers?

Hey y'all, Unfortunately, my hammer and torch corals seem to be slowly degenerating (it does not appear to be any BJD-looking issue). Moving them around different flow and PAR zones does not appear to be helping - I'm concluding that they may benefit from a move to a more euphyllia-friendly...

The GHA palace - taking care of a work tank

Thanks for the advice everyone! Definitely a little small for tangs/rabbitfish (I think it's a 4-foot tank). Will definitely get some large turbos, while doing as much as I can manually. Lawnmower blennies would be fun too! Anyone captive breed those yet? @IOnceWasLegend Thanks for the offer! I...

The GHA palace - taking care of a work tank

Hi everyone, I recently inherited the caretaker position of a legacy reef tank in the UC Berkeley biology department. It's been running for ~15 years, and has accumulated a ton of GHA over that time. I'm currently removing as much as possible during weekly water changes, but this is doing...

    The Aquabiomics talk todaj

I'll echo your statement - the tabletops I know still requires accessory devices, a lot of technical training and are very expensive per run!

    The Aquabiomics talk todaj

Very cool! Do you happen to know which device they want to buy? The "cheap" MinIon comes to mind - it does require some serious analysis know-how to use. Could be a great asset to fish doctors and curious aquarists.

    Guppies - Please take em!

Hi everyone, I'm planning on breaking down my balcony pond, but it contains 100's of guppies! So, I'm looking to give them all away (or for a trade, if you're feeling generous). Most of them are green/plantinum endler/guppy mixes. Pickup in albany!

Tired of accidently killing critters? Want to hunt urchins? Are you scuba certified?

Gotcha! I know, I get really nervous fishing the coast...

Tired of accidently killing critters? Want to hunt urchins? Are you scuba certified?

It's confusing to me - you can definitely forage for mussels within tidepools on a sportfishing license...

Tired of accidently killing critters? Want to hunt urchins? Are you scuba certified?

Also, requires a sportfishing license. Interestingly, it seems that you could collect an octopus for a personal aquarium: https://californiaoutdoors.wordpress.com/2013/08/08/collecting-marine-invertebrates-for-a-home-aquarium/ (not that I would recommend that)

I do have a 4/3, boots, hood, fins and snorkel! 30ft may be a little deep though... I've been using that gear to find uni around pillar point
