It doesn’t come with any stand or plumbing. I would put a gate valve underneath the main drain to dial in the water level. Is that what you mean?

I wouldn't worry. If it dies, I have more. It's a good test sps for newer systems like yours. Things get easier after the first year.

Same, when my tank was going through the GHA phase, urchins would bulldoze the long stringy stuff that nothing else would touch.

The best herbivore in my tank is my toothbrush. Second would be Tuxedo urchin. It recently passed away, I need to replace it. I really do feel like variety helps. I have hermits, trochus, turbo snails, emerald crabs, nassarius and bumble bee snails.
