There aren't many things that like to eat Padina. I saw a lot in Tahiti, not even the big Unicorn tangs would touch it. I had some in my first reef tank, but I found it died off on its own. Manual removal, or patience, is probably the best way to get rid of it.

I found water changes removed what they were living off of and they disappeared. I had a lot of them in my old skimmerless 75 gallon reef. I was actually kinda sad when they were gone since they didn't do any harm. I rather like finding new worms in my tank, and got all excited last night...

After reading the thread on here about RC being low in Mg, I tested my tank water and found out the concentration of Mg was about 850ppm.

I was having some similiar issues, though my tank hadn't gone as far downhill. Two things have made a huge difference: 1) I change my charcoal 1x to 2x per week, and use 1/2 cup in a small filter I place in the sump, I think it's a Fluval. 2) I started dosing w/ Salifert's Trace Elements...
