What do you think about this RODI water top-off setup?

I had used a multiple channel ca and alk doser but the top off works great for things too. PO4 dosing - interesting. Lol, its been 4 years since I had a tank -- apparently things have changed.

What do you think about this RODI water top-off setup?

I ran a setup something like this on my 120g tank in the past. It was convenient in that you never had to worry about refilling an RO container, and I never had any issues with in over the span of 3 years. The downside to this is that if you ever have bad TDS creep in your RO system you'll...

4yo base rock at side of house... Any good?

That makes sense. I'll have to lay it out on the driveway and hose and scrub it, and then dry it out properly and box it up. I keep having a vision of a shallow reef tank sitting on my patio. :)

4yo base rock at side of house... Any good?

I suspect there is plenty of dead material in the rocks from when it was in the tank; this would be my prime concern. Though honestly I'm pretty sure this stuff is just dug out of quarries which were ancient reefs, so it ultimately came from the outside at some point.

4yo base rock at side of house... Any good?

I don't tend to use any harsh chemicals around the outside of the house, so presumably it should be okay.

4yo base rock at side of house... Any good?

It's been 4 years since I ran my last tank, a 90g (pictured here). I've been lurking around in the background since then, occasionally toying with the idea of another tank. I was washing the windows when I came across this giant Rubbermaid bin of the base rock from my 90g. It is just BRS...

‘Tis the (fire) season - Air Quality monitor build

I've got an IQAir indoor air quality monitor; it shows the current indoor/outdoor AQI as well as indoor CO2. Having this available in an easy to see display is super useful, but the display isn't very large. I've been considering something similar to this except with a larger screen hanging...

‘Tis the (fire) season - Air Quality monitor build

For "Auto turn on air purifier" I'd imagine just publishing the readings to an MQTT server would be enough. A home assistant automation setup could easily turn on/off an MQTT enabled switch (iESPHome-based Sonoff switch for example).

    Tygunn’s Reborn DSA 90

It came with the tank when I got it too. Some kind of spa flex though. You can warm it up with a heat gun or hair dryer to make it more flexible when installing. I've done this in the past.

    BRS RODI

I started with the BRS 75 GPD unit, and expanded it with the dual membrane water saver and a booster pump (apartment had low pressure). Its a solid system. I have it installed in a cabinet at the side of my house and it feeds into a pressure tank. Right now since I'm tankless it provides...

    Suggested ATO

Tunze osmolator is hands-down my choice. I have had the SAME osmolator since 2005, and it just got handed off to the new owner of my 90g tank. The optical sensor went bad on it, and Tunze graciously repaired it at a minimal cost. Absolutely insane for something that was over 10 years old at...

    Reef vacuum

I have used the trick of using a maxijet as a vacuum to pump into a filter sock in the past. It seemed to jam up the powerhead if I tried sucking up lots of silt or stuff. The big win with this setup is that it doesn't really plug up at all and I don't have to worry about fouling the pump...

    Reef vacuum

I give you the prototype reef vacuum, a concept I've wanted to try for some time. I just used it to suck the junk out of my sump and it worked great. It's basically a 10in canister with a 100 micron reusable filter. A mag 9 provides suction through the filter. The one big problem I had...

    Tool to pluck hair algae?

I think I will take you up on the offer and give it a try. I'm going to pick up a load of Mexican turbos on the weekend so I'll be in the area. I tried some tongs today. They worked a bit but wow it'll take forever. Dunno what is up but my chaeto is melting away. Sent from my Nexus 6...

    Tool to pluck hair algae?

I fear the tang police would frown at me with two tangs in a 90. Already got a yellow. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
