    I just used a single cool white led and it works fine for my BC14. rapid led has 3W red led.

    I would still give them a call, On my BC14 they were willing to ship out a whole new tank for a broken bulk head (the fitting connecting the return pump to the display) but I was able to just go back to my lfs and they switched it out.

    I used this power supply to make a single led fuge light. Ebay also has some all AC inputs so you just have to wire up a plug and connect to your led.

    On my bc 14 I didn't run optics and the light output is more than enough, as I am only running at 55-60% RB and 50% CW.

    I would recommend thermal paste between the led and the c channel heatsink, for future note they make thermal pads that are like double stick tape which will save you a lot of time by not having to drill and tap. definetly go with the active cooling. running them hot will shorten there...

    I would give it a shot, I did my BC14 and that last time I soldered something was back when I was playing with RC cars (10+ years ago) Plus you will be saving a lot of money to comparable Led's, some of the commercial fixutres will work but are usually 1w led's versus the Cree XRE's that I use...
