100G Tank Plan

Planning a new reef tank after being out of the hobby for years, I have been reeducating myself on all the advances in lighting and water movement since i did my last tank,

all I can say is WOW, what a difference between the high end lighting, and water movement technology of 15-20 years ago and today
While I'm still early in the planning stages and have not identified all of the equipment i will be using yet I do have a few things identified

Lighting - Radion XR 15 pro ( 3 or 4 will need to do some par measurements to determine qty and spacing looking for an average par of around 250 at 12" and around 100-150 at 18")
water movement - 2- Vortech MP40QD's

going DSB with 3 1/2- 4" of oolite(.25-1 mm) aragonite under aprox 1-1/2 of arag alive ( 1-2mm)

Tank is a 60 X 16 X 24 100 gal

and I have drawn out a design for my stand ( going steel vice wood)

Rough fab of stand now done , lots of welding to do still

Welcome back.
Just a suggestion: not many people use DSB anymore. I think the risks out weigh the benefits at this point because of the new advances in reefing.
Can't wait to see your tank.

Stand frame is complete, (2) Red Sea reef 90’s, 2 mp40qd’s, skimmer, return pump,180 lbs aragonite sand, 100 lbs of aragonite rock, and sump in hand, will skin the frame in 3/4 birch plywood and be ready to put it all together :)

Aquascape done , sand in, sump will be finished tomorrow, 2 baffles remain for install (bubble trap) then finish plumbing and it’s ready for water and a cycle !

Nice stand! Looks like the one I made!

I am by no means an expert on sand beds, but this one looks deep compared to many of the tanks I have seen around. Are you planning on a unique animal that requires this?

I ran deep sand beds years ago on my reef tank, loved it, so chose to go that route again, it will have a bunch of tiny sand dwellers in it as part of the CUC, the rocks are all on 2 1/2 inch stands so the sand dwellers have free roam and the stands are silicones in place so aquascape can’t move or fall
