Neptune Aquatics

15Gallons AIO Innovative Marine Journal

Intro: Hello everyone, my name is Tho and I'm new to this hobby. I'm excited to start this tank journal and share my journey with you all.
1st week: live rocks are in

2nd week: I got reef prime light off fb market and the seller gave me a free clownfish .

Current status:
I'm currently using Turbo 900 to cycle my tank with fish, and I dose daily with Dr. Tim's One and Only. Since getting into this hobby, my feed has been flooded with a wealth of content about reefs and corals.

Could you please share any advice you have, as l'm unsure what information I need?

I’ll update if anything goes wrong….

Today parameters test : 8/16/25

To complete the cycle, I need to reduce nitrite levels to zero, correct?

See if you can find a reefer near you to get rock rubble or the like from a existing tank. You will honestly have some struggles getting tank to stabilize and mature with the man-made rock you have in picture.

The issue is it's very dense like concrete and very dense. If it’s what I'm thinking it is based on your pictures.

Welcome to the hobby. I don't intend to to twist your arm here but consider becoming a supporting member. We have a saying around here you support the club and the club supports you back. It's the best $30 I've ever spent on the hobby. OK recruitment sales pitch over with.

We are a friendly group and will offer advice to you in either case. Plenty of experienced reefers here that will help steer you right. Thanks for taking the time make a journal and introduce yourself. (Gives me great impressions of you) feel free to reach out with any specific questions someone will have the answer or know where you can find it.

There is probably lots of advice I could give but it would probably do more to overwhelm you than help.

To be clear on why you want something from existing tank. The bottle stuff is a man made attempt to reproduce what occurs naturally in the ocean and mature tanks. So rubble would most likely be far more effective as seed material for you long term. Verse the magic bottles.

Please get a screen lid for the tank if you don't have one. Fish jump out and it would suck 5o find it on the floor.

Research everything before you buy it. To learn care requirements. No in store that looks cool impulse buys. This ensures your tank is suitable and you understand care requirements of what catches your eye.

Above all patience nothing good happens quickly. Good luck and again feel free to ask us for specifics.

The best advice I can give you is….. there’s a huge learning curve. At the beginning it’s an extremely difficult hobby. Join the club ( it will be the best 30 dollars you spend in this hobby) ask questions, read read read. Ask more questions, then read read read some more. Then participate in our events, meet people ask even more questions. This will save you a lot of money and frustration. Slow is fast in this hobby. You are your own worst enemy. Enjoy the journey.

Oh. Welcome.

Thank you for your helpful advice. I will definitely consider becoming a supporting member. By the way, I do have a temporary lid.
