Anybody have extra 3/4" or 1" black spa flex they want to sell ?

I have a few short pieces. Free, but don't have much.
Any specifics on lengths?
I can poke around the garage tonight.

Note: I did not use any this tank. It is not nearly as flexible as it should be, and since it was stored
as a coil, permanently wanted to stay bent. Even after a long stint in the hot sun.
Not like vinyl is much better though.
I had good luck with the really thin corrugated stuff though. But hard to find fitting that match correctly.

I'll probably need a couple of feet of the 3/4" for the H&S skimmer and a couple of feet for the frag tank. LMK how much you have....where did you buy it ? Can I put it in hot water to make it more malable ?

You can use really hot water, or a blow dryer/heat gun. Just don't try to seat the pipe in any fittings while it's warm/hot, the outer lip of the pipe can peel off (arg!).

After heating the Spaflex,get the pipe in the position you want it to be in, then tighten up the bend radius a little more. I dunk that into cold water while holding it in shape. Works most the time :)

I think I have a 10' or so feet... I'll check tomorrow. It would be 3/4" if I have an left.
 
I have no 3/4" left.
For the 1" pipe, I have an odd 1' + connectors + about 2' section.
I think I threw away my other pieces.
If you are interested, I will measure exactly.

I had no luck with hot water. Mostly because if you are doing several feet, getting
a large container of really hot water is a problem in itself.
A heat gun just melts it / cools to fast.
The 3/4" is a lot easier to deal with though. Probably not a huge concern if that is the plan.

I've been using the hot water and heat gun method for over a decade with no problems :) I've literally used well over a thousand feet of all sizes of SpaFlex under 3'. I have used 3 rolls of 3' and 4' on various surge tanks. 1.5" and 2" are that big of an issue to form, but 3" and 4" are a real pain to form.

There are tricks, like doing it in smaller sections (as I noted above). For heat guns you don't want to hold it in one area but rather work a larger area, back off a minute, then resume. That allows the heat to penetrate deeper. You continue this until the SpaFlex is as malleable as you need it.
 
Probably an issue with my heat gun. I really just have a tiny thing used for heating shrink-wrap tubing that you put on wiring/electronics.
A fun thought is to use my big propane BBQ for heating it. J)
 
I've used butane torches, propane torches, my oven, my range top, normal non selectable heat guns (shrink wrap guns), digital heat guns, water, hot oil, blow dryers, you name the heat source and I bet I've used it :lol: Sometimes the proper tool is just too far away to get, so I improvise.

How bout an oxy/acetylene torch? :bigsmile:
 
I would use one if I owned one :lol:

Wait.. I did use one once, it was a glass blowers (pyrex) :lol:
 
If I have any (will check in a minute) you can have it :) I'll give it to Jeremy this weekend if I have it :D
