Barbed Reducing Union Adapter?

Hi guys, I recently got a used 40g AIO and it came with 2 AC pumps, I was thinking to replace that with a Jebao DC pump with a Y adapter.

The pump comes with 3/4 and 1 barb fitting, but the pump return pipe is 1/2, I tried at HomeDepot they only have 5/8 to 1/2 reducer, what should I do to get things connected or it's a bad idea to even doing this?

The pump I just got off Amazon is the Jebao DCP-2500

BRS has these kinds of adapters I believe. It’s possible an LFS does too, but I don’t know.

But, you should consider staying with a dual return pump system, there are advantages for redundancy and lots of people intentionally do this. I probably would if it weren’t such a PITA to change the plumbing on my Red Sea Reefer.

Only challenge for dual pump in an AIO using a jebao 2500 or mightyjet is the flow would be too much for that tank even at lowest setting. I did that with my IM20 and holy flow! Went back to a single pump
