DBTC article in the next RHM!

Wonder if we could pass the same article on to MR's for the project they are working on?
Nope, at the BOD meeting it was expressed that they were interested in a different article, same premise of course, just different word things.

Hehe... I haven't even seen the final edit yet. My pics were too sucky to get into the article. I think Eric's and Ian's are in it :D

Looks great in print. 5k copies were printed as the official MAX program guide with a different cover and middle pages. Another 2k regular cover copies were given away at the RHM booth. Realistically, I'd say 2k more people now know about this program, and the regular line of distribution for the other 38k mag copies is just starting to crank up now. Did I mention I inserted this website address at the bottom of the article?

Would be awesome to have a plot of Registered accounts/week over time and see how it grows with that article! Likewise would be interesting to see how many new members join.

On the forum registration, can you put in a required field "how did you find out about us?" and list the article as an option?

When are you planning on placing it online, Jim?
I don't know. Actually, the lag time between releasing an issue and posting it as a downloadable/printable pdf was discussed this weekend but we didn't resolve anything yet. I think the Norcal distribution only starts this week IF SDC ships the pallet as planned. Good question though. What would you think is fair given that it sometimes takes a week or 10 days post-printing to even begin Norcal distro? Do you think people will still want physical copies as much if it's available immed. on line?
This would be some great data to have. Good idea IF it's easy!

Well, I'd figure that the online version would be available online before it went into print. It's coming from a digital format and taking that and converting it over to PDF doesn't take long. I would say a week from post-printing to NorCal distribution wouldn't be too unreasonable for the printed material. I would say 2-3 days for the online version would be awesome.

Having the digital version online before the prints reaches us would be a great way to push others to visit the website and forum (RHM). Getting it online would also mean less prints needed and less overhead (not sure how much you guys incur with printing). We are living in the green revolution and I would actually prefer to have it in a PDF or online format since after reading the magazine, I don't have to find a place to stash it.

Nice when are the LFS here getting the mags?
Well, i just checked and they're not at ASAp yet. I'll post back as soon as i know.

Maybe we should open up the DBTC forum so people can see what's going on in there ;D ..

Just viewing only no posting for non-member

Na, I'm not for advertising it like that.... I do think that new members need to acknowledge the club 's moto and maybe even DBTC info.

Opening the flood gates can welcome mass numbers of people trying to get tons of free corals. Right now, we have a seemingly high ratio of DBTC "chains" vs "broken chains". I;d like to keep it that way.

who knows. requirements to participate in DBTC may be needed, but who knows. A little speedbump can do wonders.

-must have a tank journal
-must have started a DBTC before receiving one
-must be a member for X long before receiving one
--etc

I am not saying any of these should be instituted, but ideas like those may need to be called in. I'm being the pessimist here. The optimist in me says that the good/bad DBTCers ratio will stay the same or improve :p

..edit: what about DBTC posting permissions being enabled only when people post in the DBTC mission statement that they have explicitly read and understood and plan on upholding it? Sorta like our own EULA :p
