I would like to inquire whether those of you who purchase QT fish also take the time to quarantine corals sourced from local fish stores and frag swaps. I’ve noticed that some stores that quarantine their fish may also offer corals brought in by hobbyists who do not quarantine, which could potentially lead to the introduction of issues such as ich into their systems

Good question. I do for all corals, and most inverts.

Frag swaps are the aquarium equivalent of a swinger party or visiting a brothel. The people there are people taking in things from everywhere.

Always use protection (quarantine).

While they may be in the water the coral is bagged with, they don't attach to coral flesh itself.

Ich and velvet tomonts don't attach to coral flesh, but they do attach to stony coral skeletons, snail shells, rubble, etc.

I don't think anyone has tested it. Go get your science lab coat on dude!

If you're curious though and want to experiment, Potassium Permanganate has been tested on ich for freshwater and saltwater and is believed to be effective. Some have used it as a coral dip, but I've read it can be pretty harsh as it has powerful oxidizing properties. Really bad for inverts. But hey, potassium permanganate is a really deep purple color that definitely stains your clothes, so maybe you'll get some cool colored corals.
