My 65 G Tank

That’s not accurate. It’s 30-30% of that
I misread it. I thought he was saying that it was 12 dkh a week ago and now it’s 9.6. I think I’d still be inclined to set up a doser; at least be thinking about it.

@RFURBP, when you started your tank did it start at 12 dkh and now with all the water changes you’re at 9.6? If so, you’re at a net loss. 1/3 of your total volume being changed every week is pretty substantial but if it’s getting lower each week then you’ll need to start dosing eventually.

So with water changes, I did a 50% water change last week.To test alkalinity, since math is hard. It was at 9.6, with a 50% water change it is at 10.8. I am going to do another water change tomorrow, but I just tested alkalinity and it is at 9.4, almost a week later.

I normally do a 30% to 35% water change, 30 to 35 gallon. Sorry I should have been more clear.

Hello fellow Reefers,
I have been MIA the past few months, but I thought it was about time for an update. I have continued my weekly water change of 30 to 45%, 30 to 45 gallons on the 100 gallon system. I am getting great growth in a number of my corals with my religious water changes and using the Metal Halides with the Giesemann bulbs.

Unfortunately, for the last month, I have been fighting a cynobacteria outbreak. Its a real pain. I think it may be associated with the fact that I unplugged the CO2 scrubber from my protein skimmer because the PH was getting close to 9 when I ran it full time. I am considering repluging in the CO2 scrubber. The PH is substantially lower now, sitting around 7, no matter the size of the water change. Any tips regarding how to combat the cynobacteria would be greatly appreciated.

I no longer have the eel and returned him. It was fun, but a pain to keep feeding him so he wouldn't eat fish. He was also about two feet and he had outgrown the tank. It was quite a feat taking all the rocks out to get him.
