My first ever icp done on my main sps 40gallon tank

I can't make headsnor tailsnof most of this stuff.

I lost 4 shrimp in a few weeks no clue why. I did the tank swap and the just died over time. I had them for several months before no problem. Icp test shows copper in my system various other metals. None of this is stuffni ever used personally. So no idea how it’s in the tank.

I would welcome any general or specific feed back on the test. Most of this is overwheming in termsnof information.

I googled how to remove copper and ordered something posted below based on search results.

You should see suggested ranges and measured values in your report. For Cu, Is it possible any of your live rock or other equipment was used in a quarantine tank at any point?
 
Had a similar situation last year. Turns out there was brass corroding in my tank and leached mainly copper and zinc. So I would check if any equipment or magnet is failing if none of them were used in quarantine before. For removal I used cuprisorb + triton detox + poly filter. imo poly filter and detox worked better and heavy metal was non detectable after a month (probably because I didn't run cuprisorb with reactor)

The one on the website seems far more detailed if that would be more useful. However it would be tons of screen shots. Would have to do that after work.

The tank was used. One of the rock structures was picked up from from @Srt4eric someone gave it to him. So in fairness I couldn't say if copper was used with that other rock structure or in the tank it'sself before I picked them up.

Yea I don't how much copper is bad myself. I only know 4 shrimp died on me with no apparently cause when I had them for several months before the tank swap. They seemed to kinda die one by one after a week after the tank transfer was running. Maybe 1 died a week or so.

Copper was not used on that structure from me. That was in his display.
 
Besides copper, tin level is alarming - from searching google/internet:
  • Potential Harm to Shrimp: While some sources primarily focus on the effects of tin on corals, it's reasonable to infer that high tin levels could also negatively impact reef shrimp given their sensitivity to heavy metals and the potential for these substances to disrupt their biological processes.
No result on how high is high that can hurt crustacean.
 
I can share more detailed feedback later or let me know if you have any concrete questions, but the recent improvement on their reporting shows you now what to focus on. This is under ‘overview of dosages’ and the priority allocated to this. I would look into priority 1 and 2 and determine if you trust other sources or rely on what they are recommending.

Under the more detailed reporting they provide - which only you have access to - read the ‘read more’ section in addition to their summary recommendations to get more insights in what the ‘deviations’ mean and if they need to be addressed and why.

Not implying it was, could have been the tank itself. Though I will think on any other possibilites of equipment or magnets as possible source. There are also a few other metals that showed up as well. So it’s also possible that it's pump or something.

I have 3 mp10s wet sides in the tank, a "
jaebo return pump "that was used aquired from a tank breakdown before I set it up on this tank", and a nyos 120 protein skimmer, and a glass heater.

I have two magnetic frag racks on the glass, both seem very much intact with zero signs of any exposed magnets etc.

There isn’t any other equipment in contact with the water that could be a possibility to my knowledge.

No, but I i added a giant pithos crab 2 days ago from another tank. Before this test came back. If i see him i will definitely get him out just to be safe.

I was starting to think i had some type of hidden predator in the tank lol.
 
Wouldn't hurt to bump up your iodine too, that often can affect crustaceans and their molting.

Do you leave your magnetic scraper in there when not in use? The tin levels are concerning like others mentioned. I'd take apart your MP10 wet sides (all the way into the magnet portion) and check for cracks. There's videos online on how to do this without breaking anything.

Running any bio media in there?

Rowaphos, and AFR.


I have a flipper float i normally leave in the tank. I will take it out.
