Wanted to give props to neptunes for having a great store. I went in there on my way home from work on Friday for the first time. I had been meaning to go for a while since i drive through Milpitas on my way home daily but until now never realized that the store is only a few mins off of 237.
I appreciated that when I started eyeballing a 4 wheeler goby as an alternative to the pearly jawfish that was sold out they directed me away from the goby as it is a finicky eater as opposed to letting me buy something that I would have regretted an hour later when I got home and read up about. They also directed me away from the mustache jawfish as it apparently had a nasty attitude and agreed that bluespot are bad because they are a slightly lower temp fish than my 80* reef tank.
They had a great selection of coral frags at great prices; one of the reasons I hesitated going was that I had read people on reef central comment on expensive pricing. Well any store that has sps frags starting at $9.99 and other frag tanks ranging from $10.00 and up falls under the category of good pricing in my books so I have no idea what others were talking about. Yea a frag of super_rare_chalice_01 is going to run you $200 a pop but that is to be expected.
I ended up getting a lawnmower blenny, a nice $15 frag of zoas with both pink & green zoas on the plug as well as a great looking florida ric. Since I have a 25g nano I appreciate being able to purchase small frags as opposed to full blown colonies on large rocks. I always go home and re-frag the corals onto rubble rock and glue the rock onto my existing live rock so the huge rocks with 40+ heads are useless to me and it is nice to see a store with lots of frags to chose from.
As I expand my coral collection over the next months now that my tank is maturing I can foresee burning more money here!
Thanks!
