Hey All,

So I picked up that 120 off CL and it's doing pretty well. I got two skimmers in the deal but one of them needs a new pump. Can somebody help me identify what type of skimmer this is? I need to pick up a new pump for it but am not even sure what kind it is. I've attached a picture of the skimmer and pump together, a shot of the pump, then a shot of the impellar on the pump. A little help please? Mahalo.

It may need a new impeller, the skimmer in question has a Sedra 5000 pump, the impellers on those pumps have a tendency to swell causing them to jam up. Worse case scenario you need a new pump and impeller, but dollars to doughnuts it's a Sedra 5000.
 
You could probably run the skimmer using a Sedra pump rated for more GPH (for a larger ER), however the Euro-Reef model you have now may not be able to handle the increased amount of water going through it, causing the collection cup to overflow.
 
The union has the model number on it.

I recently got one skimmer and the pump with a swollen impeller thinking i had to buy another one, carefully extracted the ceramic shaft and then pulled wiggling the impeller out of the housing.
I use now the smaller Sedra 3500 impellers (the swollen ones) as back up for the bigger pumps, they work great, all you have to do is switch the ceramic shaft.
