Cali Kid Corals

Where to place my new MP10

I bought a Vortech MP10 it's going in my 28g cube. Where should I place it? My first thought is back right corner area of the tank on the glass facing the other side and having it blow past the over flow area, this might be too much direct flow over the corals up there, so I was thinking of moving it lower so it hits the live rock and is dispersed. Any suggestions? Currently I have a Koralia Nano and Koralia 1 in the tank. I think I'm going to replace the Koralia 1 with the MP10 but the Koralia 1 I was able to place on the back wall which is a little more convenient.

because you can't put it on the back?

Your gonna love that thang!
Just toss it in and give it a whirl, move it around. You'll find out what works best.
so many variables to play with on the vortechs.
I found that the top 1/3rd towards the front of the tank on the side works well for me.
(mp40 in a 215 gallon) I move them a little each time I clean them to get a little different flow going each time.

Regardless of position, the path in front of the pump should be as clear of obstructions as possible.
If you want more of a visual wave on the top of the water, put it as close to the top as possible with the intake slots up (to pull the water from the top). You'll have to experiment on how high you can put it without it sucking bubbles, and that spot will sift as you play with the speed of the fast switching mode.
If you want more of a wave in the middle/bottom, try in the middle of the side, also in fast switching mode.

Yup, since the driver/motor? is not to get wet but you could make a dry-box where the motor can be housed and secure it, somehow the magnet strength should help on this issue.

Caution: beware of creating way too much current for chalice, shrooms, acans, cyphastria etc. Start that puppy on low output. In my 20 gal tank I nearly lost all of my chalice because of excessive current from mh MP-10.

I'd place it just above the halfway mark on the right or lest side of a square tank and near the front of the glass, where it can easily have the wet section removed for cleaning. I'm assuming you have a LR wall up the back wall of yor tank. Crank up your output just high enough to blow the slime off acros that near the top of your tank and be careful of Reef Crest mode! I find my "little tank" is happier on Lagoon mode, though I am running Reef Crest mode on both MP-40w's in the 90 gal.
