    Cutting Down 150G Starfire

I’ve heard this many times but I’ve never seen the claim substantiated. My glass vendor lists the same ASTM standards for their regular clear glass as they do for their low iron option. It’s possible that they both meet the standard and regular clear glass just exceeds it, I don’t know. I just...

Paint to Seal Built-In Cabinet Drywall?

I don’t know how handy you are but you can remove the drywall and install tile around it.

What's the last reefing book you read?

The last one I read was probably a decade ago but it was the dummies guide to saltwater aquariums.

    AP700 question

I can’t even hear mine, so I guess I don’t know if they run all the time. There’s dust on the exit side though so I guess that’s evidence that they run sometimes.

Doing away with the apex salinity probe for now?

I think when I called him years ago he just had a minimum order (like 250 gallons). It was more than I could store so I just kept making my own.

    “Dressing” aluminum frame stand?

You can cut it down but you’d have to disassemble it, make the needed cuts, and then reassemble it. Skinning the aluminum frame with wood is possible but it will take quite a bit of work to make it look good. What kinds of tools and skills do you have to do this?

Regal angel in a mixed reef tank?

I didn’t know regals were that temperamental. What would you say are steps for best success then? One person said add first to avoid food aggression. Are there foods that tend to work well (other than sponges) to ensure they will eat? Do CB specimens fair any better than WC? Do they prefer...

    SCTLD might have a solution

What did you think of aquabiomics (if you think this will derail the thread you can dm me your response)?

    Skimmer performance

Right, that’s my understanding as well. The smaller particulates are attaching to the bubbles to be filtered out before they are left to decompose in the tank and become no3 or po4. I suppose it’s entirely possible that the particulates could breakdown and decompose in the neck of the skimmer...

    Skimmer performance

Agreed, maybe you just don’t have much in the way of nutrients to continuously skim. Maybe they accumulate over a couple days and then finally get to the point where the skimmer can actually make it up the neck and into the cup. If my skimmer was pulling out 1/2 gallon a day, I’d be looking at...

Just purchased a Parwise Meter, we'll see how it works...

My iPad Pro has a usb c connector; I wonder if that is the only limiting factor.

    How do you manage vacation?

Same here. We did 7 days away with no one. The ato auto fills and I filled the auto feeder right before leaving. Came home to no casualties but a fair amount of algae on the glass. I had a non reefing neighbor on standby and was monitoring the tank stats on fusion.

    Any BAR Reefscape Pros?

jestersix did mine like 8 years ago. I actually wasn’t sure he was still doing it.

Thoughts on Photography and Buying Corals online?

This is a big ethical discussion on photography forums and not just with reefing. Does the photographer try to emulate what is seen right in front of them or do they treat it with artistic license and choose how to make it the most visually appealing. I think most of the larger coral vendors...

Achilles tang - tips for successfully keeping one?

When I got mine, I didn’t know that they were expert only or that there was anything to be careful of. I got mine from LA and did a TTM qt. I must have gotten a good healthy specimen because I didn’t have any problems with him. He was undoubtedly the king of the tank though.

I don’t know if that’s enough tangs. Maybe if there was two more.
