Calibration of TDS meter via solution.

Ok so I have some of this Hanna brand calibration solution... now one issue is that it's very temperature dependent.. no problem I have a nice thermometer that can measure down to the tenth of a degree, however at around room temperature it reads somewhere over 1200 mg/L I'm guessing that's your "TDS" number. I was under the impression it's beneficial to adjust closer to the values you'll be testing at (not to mention, one of my meter maxes at 999!) so is this type of solution something I need to dilute? In a very accurate way?

Ok, just figured out that my meter says to calibrate with NaCl however the 1382 solution is KCl which apparently won't work the same way... BRAVO!

So here's my question, calibration aside if I want 0 TDS will it read the same regardless of calibration?

I got some TDS meter calibration from a buddy of mine; he got it from work where they use it on their lab equipment. The calibration solution is 500 ppm, which corresponds to 1000 us/cm.
