help! just bought a chocolate chip starfish

hi all, i just bought a chocolate chip starfish and was wondering what is the best way to keep it healthy.. picked it up at petco and the guy there told me to feed it live clams. i wanted to see if anyone have one of these and what do you guys feed it ( feeding live clams is going to be a hassle and not very cost friendly ).. im new to this so just needed some expert opinions. im running a 10 gallon nano been about a year now. currently have a false perc clown, and yellow watchman goby with two hermit crabs. also any idea if i could stock some more fish if so what type? thanks

I'd think you could feed it frozen shrimp but what ever you do make sure you keep it fed. I heard those things eat crabs and even fish.

Here's some info:

Mine eats the algae I attach to a rock for my tang. The green stuff.[/quote]

Really, everything I've read says these guys are meat eaters? Sure your cleaning crew isn't getting smaller :)

It could be getting smaller. I have a non standard color cholocate chip, it is peach and light blue colors. When i attach the algae to the rock with the rubber band and leave it on the floor close to lights out time. When the lights are off the starfish comes out and feasts on the algae for a long time. when he is gone all that is left is the rubber band.

thanks for all the reply... the one i got looks like a cookie hahah! ill try the advice thanks and how about stock what else can or should i put in ( fish wise ) ?

I had a friend who had a chocolate chip starfish in his hex and I kid you not, the thing ate EVERYTHING in the tank. I believe it consumed multiple fish somehow and his cleanup crew. Definitely don't let him get hungry...
