Grats to you!
Best advice I could ever give a new person is to take your time. Nothing good happens fast in reefing. Let things stablize and add livestock slowly.
If you don't have test kits, you will want a few basic ones.
Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate let you know your cycling progress, but aren't completely necessary as long as you are very patient. I would say ammonia is a good one to get though to start to monitor dieoff and bacterial conversion (Ammonia will go up, then down, then a bit after, you can start adding. THink few weeks time scale).
Alk/Calcium and magnesium are important test kits for coral.
Phosphate is a bonus one to have which helps in troubleshooting algae problems. (same with nitrate).
Gl and have fun!!
