Recommended maintenance for an older Iwaki pump

Hi All,

Thanks to Steve and Jim at NAA, my new tank is home. I'm currently making some final changes to the stand and expect to start filling in a few days.

One peice of equipment I am recycling is an older Iwaki 40 RLT-115. This pump treated me well for years but has been on the shelf for the last 18 months. Before I hook it up to my new setup, is there any regular maintenance I should perform?

Thanks,

-Charles

I'm not familiar with that pump, but maybe the manufacturer's website has some tech refs and recommendations regarding maintenance.

I'd guess to open it up and clean out any calcium deposits with a vinegar or dilute HCl soak.

Check if there are any ceramic shafts and the like which may show wear.

Check any O-rings for cracks, flat spots, or hardening.

Check if any motor bearings seem noisy.

Maybe do a quick Google on that model to see if there are any reports of common repair issues.
