Sand bed recommendation needed

I don't have a set one. I buy several sizes and mix according to look and feel :) sorry, I wish I had a set recipe.

FWIW I have 50 sacks of most sizes and have for many years. heck, I have South Down still :lol:
 
I think I'm holding about 125lbs of stuff too sugar, other small just too damn lazy to use it. Glad I have 2 sheds and a garage!
 
Some of the sugar fine stuff is real dense and is good for laying down a base and having larger less dense substrate layered over the top.

When in doubt I just use the #1 it lays down nicely.

The reality is that in our high flow SPS dominated reefs, sand is going to move around, there's really not much we can do about it other than a faux sand bed.
 
I just ordered 160 pounds of #1 Aragonite as suggested, Atlantis will get it for me.
Sounds like the ideal compromise main layer, and I can experiment a bit with additions if I want.
