What is the purpose of the joint you plan on gluing together?

Because if that is the configuration that you have, basically a horizontal board(top of the stand) across a vertical one (as a leg) then you're testing that application WAY wrong, you won't have any pulling force on it, it'll all be sheer (horizontal) forces, sure there's compression but glue doesn't help with that :)
 
Titebond III is probably that strong.

Can't remember what glue it was. Used to get it from Truitt & White in Berkeley. It's just the typical yellow wood glue, but for professionals. Not like the watery stuff for homeowners.
