UV sterilizer orientation

Hey all, currently fighting dinos in Megaflow 120, checked out mack's reef dino support group and it looks like I'm fighting ostreopsis.

I'm gonna pick up a UV sterilizer soon, and I just wanted to ask, is it better to mount it horizontally, or vertically in my cabinet?

Orientation matters in that how you hang it can affect if air pockets are blown out or if they can stay in there. For instance, if placed horizontally with input and output both facing down, the air bubble at the top could stay in there. Main impacts would presumably be killing the bulb from high heat. I have no idea if anything else could happen.

As mentioned earlier it then depends on the model and how the water flow is designed. This all is also along the lines of why ideally it's impossible for the bulb to turn on without the water moving. Eg if you're using a pump, ideally the pump getting turned off forces the UV bulb to turn off.

I personally destroyed a bulb once because of this.
