I'm probably going to go with the Python no spill clean thing that lets me vacuum the sand. But before I shell out some money, I wanted to know if there was anyone else with a better or cheaper system to clean sand?

Stir with a handle from a scraper as I siphon out the resulting cloud.

They do sell the same python like large-tube to small-tube siphon, that you just drain
into a bucket. Same concept, but cheaper, and you know exactly how much you siphoned out.

Why not just stir and use the hose to suck what comes out?
If you need something rigid, just attach the hose to a pvc pipe, perhaps?

I use the siphon thing to turn my sand. I do NOT connect it to the sink.
I dont like the free floating crap, so no stirring for me.

I get an amazing amount of poo in those buckets.. too bad it kills plants.

Forgot to mention I do the whole exposed sandbed every week. I like to occasionally baste the rocks too.
