Nobody I know that has a large SPS dominated tank (myself included) is able to cover consumption with kalkwasser alone. We are all using kalk to replace as much of the ATO water as possible, but it's not more than 1-2gallons in most cases which isn't enough kalk to offset the alk needs alone...

Are you sure this is even correct? have you calibrated recently and checked it against a 2nd PH probe? These things are wrong all the time - maybe even most of the time.

My nitrates right now are holding steady at 7-9 and my phosphates pretty steady right around .07 I am no longer dosing LC or doing anything for phosphate control at all. I dose 15ml of vodka daily - though I don't think this has a big impact on nitrates in my case, my corals seem happier so...

@Alexander1312 My skimmer is in exactly 8" of water (mine is the 220, not the 200 - FYI. my system is also quite a bit larger though). My pump is set to "3" which is the middle setting. My water level is set to ~4.25 right now, which is a fairly dry setting. I am getting some super nasty gunk...

Also make sure you are doing this for the right reasons - skimming wet probably actually pulls out more stuff overall, it just does it much less efficiently since it's also pulling a lot more water. This just means your salinity is impacted more and you have to empty your cup more often which is...

I actually don't put LC anymore as my Po4 is pretty low now, although I doubt that matters. Certainly our husbandry differs but there a lot of people out there who love their reef octo skimmers, all using a lot of different husbandry methods...perhaps your specific combination of actions impairs...
