    Microscope for Dinos

I do not believe this is a good UV. I do not remember why but I believe I posted this somewhere here based on someone elses comment and some additional research on this. I bought the IM UV instead (for the 28 gallon frag tank), which worked well. Passive carbon should help and it depends how...

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

Good question. I have been thinking about them in a different context, but it would not harm to add a gallon of them. Update: Ordered 1/2 gallon from them, plus 25% off with code Summer25...

    Microscope for Dinos

Strong UV seems to work for this specific type (for many others not). I doubt it will go away by its own. Seems to be the most toxic of all - should remove all clean up crew and run GAC ASAP.

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

I thought I had dinos again, but I am glad I always have a microscope ready to check, and given the high nutrients I am running these days, it seemed unlikely. Looks like these are diatoms - tank video with focus on the sandbed and three different videos of the microscope slide taken from the...

Hanna ULR Phosphate Test Reagent - Toxicity

Weekly in both tanks. So this can add up.

Hanna ULR Phosphate Test Reagent - Toxicity

I know we have some scientists and doctors here, so my question is the following: Given what perplexity produced below regarding the toxicity of these Hanna reagents - specifically that it can be absorbed through the skin (last bullet point) - should they never be handled without wearing gloves?

    7.5 Gallon Bookshelf Nano

Unless I misread but is the issue not rather running a relatively high alk with ultra low nutrients, which stresses the corals. Alk at these low nutrients should be more in the lower 7 range. And not sure how you test, but my Hanna understates dkh readings. Also, Hanna in the ultra-low phosphate...

    DIY chemical solutions

Interesting topic. The only non-reef taxed product I buy at the moment is sulfamic acid.

Reef Beef reef toothbrush!! Thank you!

Could this be related to the widespread use of Kalkwasser, I wonder?

Reef Beef reef toothbrush!! Thank you!

Since when do I agree with the majority? Come on, man. Keep up. Altering people and their circumstances gives me facebook vibes. Not a fan.

Reef Beef reef toothbrush!! Thank you!

Sad that we are sending fake AI stuff around. It could have been funny, though.

    Activated carbon (GAC) quality differences

Correct. And I was not advocating for doing that, I was only pointing out what happened when I did - it was recommended to do by the seller: https://www.korallen-zucht.de/out/pictures/wysiwigpro/korallenzucht_guide_easy_reefing_engl.pdf - activated carbon. And I am glad I did, as it would not...

    Activated carbon (GAC) quality differences

That is very interesting. I had shared the link above of the carbon ‘brand’ / bulk ‘premium’ product from premium aquatics, who I normally like quite a bit. I reached out to them today for comments about this.

    Activated carbon (GAC) quality differences

Did you ever pour hot water over yours?

    Activated carbon (GAC) quality differences

That's how it smelled, in my opinion. This was the carbon btw that folks should not add into their tank - https://premiumaquatics.com/collections/quick-order/products/premium-aquatics-bulk-deluxe-granular-carbon-pound?_pos=3&_sid=5dbbbd915&_ss=r&variant=47329510818034 And I would recommend to...

    Activated carbon (GAC) quality differences

(corrected/photos previously uploaded in the wrong order) I normally pour hot RODI water over the carbon a few times before I put it into my tank, to remove the finer particles. I always use the same type of carbon for this - left picture. Today, I did the same with another carbon product...

    Bucket Head - Longer Hose

Does anyone use a longer hose for the bucket head and can recommend one? It looks like the hose size is 1-1/4 inch so the below should fit? https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-1-1-4-in-VT2534-Premium-Car-Cleaning-Kit-Accessory-Shop-Vacuum-Attachments-for-RIDGID-Wet-Dry-Vacs-VT2534/100638355

PIF - Neon Green Leather Toadstool (frags) - Walnut Creek

This guy is growing too much. I have now several frag pieces from this and no more space in the frag tank to let them attach to rocks/plugs etc. Let me know if you want one. BOD and Supporting Members only.

    Heliopora coerulia PIF

    The polyps are white, correct?

    Heliopora coerulia PIF

Fragging is not killing :)? But polyp extension for this coral is an early indicator for missing traces, earlier than many others apparently.
