Microscope for Dinos

Does anyone have a microscope in the South Bay I could borrow? I'm pretty sure I have dinos in the frag tank.

My Amazon "microscope" can only get me this close:

Hard to tell from this video. I'll try the microscope from Max.

What was your treatment protocol for the ostreopsis?

Appropriately sized UV sterilizer. Black out for 3-5 days (including fuge). If nitrates and phosphates are zero, bring them up to something reasonable can help.

Blackout isn't always necessary, but it can definitely speed things up.

Ostreopsis confirmed, thanks for the microsoce @popper. It could be clearing up on it's own maybe? Was much worse a couple weeks ago. I'll up my phosphate dosing and see what happens.

Maybe get one of these cheap small UVs in case that doesn't work:

AA GKM3W Mini Internal UV,Black,AAUV3W-B

hygger Aquarium U-V Light with Timer, 360° Protective Shield Clean Light for Green Water and Algae Clean, Mini Algae Control Lamp for Freshwater and Saltwater Tank (5W for 13-40 Gallon)

Strong UV seems to work for this specific type (for many others not).

I doubt it will go away by its own.

Seems to be the most toxic of all - should remove all clean up crew and run GAC ASAP.

Just ordered the AA GKM9W Internal UV https://a.co/d/guBALEl

I've had them for a few weeks and no effects on CUC, but I do run CAC carbon passively in a bag so I'm sure that's helping.
I do not believe this is a good UV. I do not remember why but I believe I posted this somewhere here based on someone elses comment and some additional research on this. I bought the IM UV instead (for the 28 gallon frag tank), which worked well.

Passive carbon should help and it depends how much you have in the tank, i.e., carbon and this dino type. For those that have it on rocks etc, they typically see their CUC dying.

@dangalang - This was the thread re the UV in case you are interested:

Took a couple weeks, but it looks like the dinos are gone *knock on wood*

I Increased my phosphate dosing and returned the Green Killing Machine and picked up the Hygger 5w UV https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DX6YZPC2

Casey was kind enough to lend me his Aqua Ultraviolet Hang On UV 15w, but the euro bracing and lack of space for an additional pump in my tank made it difficult to plumb. If the Hygger didn't work I would have jerry rigged the 15w UV. @CaseyP will you be at 11/2 swap?

Congrats on not getting the difficult-to-treat type of dinos, and that they seem already gone.

Quick question: I have to admit I do not get the before and after pictures. Can you explain? Maybe it is my eyesight...

This is from Charles Delbeek-

Tapio also had these popup as well. A friend in Germany recommended: The simplest and most effective method of control:
Turn off the lights for 3 days and set the temperature at 29 degrees Celsius. It works. Repeat a few weeks later if necessary.

Best regards,
Klaus

It's important to stick to the 3-day period. During this time, it's recommended to use some activated charcoal (approx. 100 ml/100 l).
