    High TDS after RODI

I am not sure if this will fit to your existing setup tbh. Also, fully agree with @PjFish sentiment. I did miss are running a larger waterbox so this RODI is definitely not proportionate to your tank, specifically if you need to make more water.

    High TDS after RODI

To Rich’s point, as I mentioned above, your DI resins are most likely depleted, but the question is why. As I said, the carbon does not break down chloramines effectively, impacting the membrane which impacts the DI. This would be my working assumption. If you are looking for a totally new...

    High TDS after RODI

First, the filter I recommended might not fit your system. They might actually not offer a suitable carbon for your system but please check. I would replace the carbon first and measure TDS past RO. If the rejection rate is still only at 75% as it currently seems to be, the membrane is probably...

    High TDS after RODI

Not sure if you saw this, but for the past few days, we discussed the topic of chloramine removal here. https://www.bareefers.org/forum/threads/challenges-in-removing-chloramine-in-rodi-setup.39238/page-2#post-561696 I will add a few more details later today. In your case, if you did not use...

GeeksReef 40G planned to be bommie stony coral reef

Or maybe you buy a used Reefi Light with a 120-degree reflector - looking to others if this is the right reflector size - I believe @derek_SR was selling his? This would be great light for a budget prize.

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

It is a 'fertilizer', which they even openly state in their product description. I do not believe a 'fertilizer aproach' is advisable for trace element dosing except in some very limited circumstances, i.e., you have so much crop that you know it will all be absorbed by all livestock immediately.

    Hi everyone!

Welcome. I assume you are referring to the swap, which is members-only. You could become a member and attend though.

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

Should be 1:50. Also, something that has not been discussed here, but the best way to use LC is in combination with GFO in a media reactor. Added immediately before the intake. Increases GFO power seven times without detectable LC in the water (Armin Glaser). Re ChaetoGro - oh boy, not a fan...

    Activated carbon (GAC) quality differences

Bought this book used and it arrived today. Probably the only copy still available. 26 year old/1999 published, no pictures, hardcore. No fluffy stuff in there, only what matters - skimming and carbon. :). Oh, and fun fact. The website which previously sold the the carbon you recommended was...

Challenges in removing chloramine in RODI setup

Good point. I was thinking of adding this to a prefilter stage though.

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

That is the reason I do not prefer or would recommend LC as the tool of choice for phosphate removal. It can be easily misused and bad things (to fish) happen then. Your tank is much smaller than Derek‘s tank and your skimmer might not be as powerful as his, so the likelihood to overdose it in...

Challenges in removing chloramine in RODI setup

Wow, this is out of the box. Is this because I assume it significantly lowers PH, which makes it much easier for carbon to remove chloramine. Interesting.

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

Should not be at that level, and corals generally should not be impacted to at least 20 ug/L or potentially much higher. If you are having issues with corals, it is most likely not due to the lanthanum showing on your ICP which are really tiny amounts measured here. 1 ug/L is only one...

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

I am not trying to defend the lanthanum usage, but I am also not super against it. But the number 11 should be ug/L, so actually not that crazy high, and potentially still acceptable, unless you have some of those rather sensitive tang types (e.g., acantharus type I believe).

Challenges in removing chloramine in RODI setup

Some more water chemistry details re chloramine levels. I am still working on a fix with Chris / Airwaterice.com. Relationship between pH and chloramine levels Chloramine (a compound of chlorine and ammonia) stability and presence are influenced by pH because the ratio of ammonia (NH₃) to...

    Microscope for Dinos

Taking pictures (or videos) with these standard microscopes drove me nuts when I had dinos and wanted to share how my sandbed looks like with others. I admire everyone’s patience doing this. I went with a (slightly) different setup from Bresser with their digital camera / MikroOkular HD camera...

Has anyone who uses this Pentek cartridge actually tested if it did remove all the chloramine?
