    Aquaexotic in Belmont

I thought they were only open on weekends and by appt on weekdays, but you can always call in check. I bought a couple items from Matt a few weeks back and thought that the store looked great, the prices were reasonable, and the service couldn't have been better.

Where to get a custom sump made

jT415Gz - I think his prices are more than reasonable. I did a little research online prior to committing and seeing the prices of Trigger sumps (for example), I think Gen is right in line. Also, with Gen I have someone local that I can have custom build to my design. I would suggest giving...

Where to get a custom sump made

Yes, Gen was a really good guy to work with and I like that I supported a local company.

Where to get a custom sump made

I can't believe how long it's been since I last inquired about buying a custom sump. It took a while, but I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a custom sump thru Gen. I picked up the sump last week, so thanks for the recommendation. The sump turned out nice and I spent a decent chunk...

Where to get a custom sump made

Thanks guys. I forgot about Gen. I've never worked with him, but recall the name. I'll have to swing by Aquatic Central to get a quote.

Where to get a custom sump made

Can someone refer me to a sump builder? I didn't buy the Elos sump because I intended to get one custom made. Well, two years later and I still never got around to ordering a sump. I've been using a 20gal high for the last 2 yrs and although it's worked fine so far, I think I should get...

    Vortechs really p*ssing me off...

I'm crossing my fingers, but so far the Vortech has been great. I had the Gen1, so I went thru the conversion process, which was a pain, but other than that, it's been working fine. What do you guys run your pumps at? I run mine at about half or less, but maybe it's because they're run at...

    Eight 24" T5HO or one 250W MH/Lumenarc mini with two 24" actinic VHO with two 24" T5HO?

Plus 1 for option 2. If you have a canopy, I like option 2 because you get the best of all the lightings. I'd probably skip on the VHOs though if it was me just to simplify the setup, but those VHOs sure do make corals POP.

    New laptop suggestion

I use a Mac Book Pro at home and a HP laptop at work. This setup works great for me because the HP fits all my work needs (Office, specialized aps, etc) and the Mac I use for personal (iLife). My problem with the Macs is that when they crash, they tend to really crash and need outsider...

    Golf... My other addiction

I split my free time between golf and reefing. If I'm lucky, I'll get out once a month onto the golf course. Unfortunately, both are a little pricey and they take a lot of time. I guess that's why I'm not that good at either.

    Frag setup in the works

Dang Ian. That frag tank is looking really good and it looks like your collection has grown a bit since I last came by. Might have to drop by again one of these days for the eye candy ;)

    OtakuThugster's Mini-reef

My friend picked up one of these the last time we were at Oceans Treasure. It was really nice looking and he got a really nice sized branch. I was always curious how well it did in his tank, but I haven't asked about it yet, so maybe now I'll check. How long have you had yours OtakuThugster?

    PVC pipe question

A cap should work fine if it's on the inside. But if you're capping on the outside (under water), I'd be a cautious if it's not a threaded connection. That cap could pop off from the water pressure.

    OTA's rimless tank manufacturer

Yea, I'm pretty familiar with the ADA tanks as I've seen yours and I've been to the store a few times. I'm just looking for options for my friend as he's looking to upgrade his fresh water planted system. It's good to know that ADA stepped up and made revisions. Say, what did you do with your...

    OTA's rimless tank manufacturer

OTA is closed right now, so I was wondering if anyone knew the manufacturer of the rimless tanks at OTA. My friend is looking for a rimless and I thought the OTA line of tanks were similiar in pricing, if not better, than the ADA tanks. If anyone knows the brand or has a link, that would be...

Arnold's tank crash - stupid power outage!

Sorry to hear about your tank Arnold. I hope things pull thru. I have about 5 - 10 gallons for new SW made up if you're still catching up on water changes. Just let me know as I think I'm pretty close to you. I was out on Divisadero and Fulton that night having dinner and drinks and the...
