Help ressurect neglected tank - Long post alert.

You have sand, so it’s likely you could replace all the rock at once without worrying about dumping in bottles of bacteria. Personally though, I’d probably replace one half of the rock and then maybe one or two weeks later replace the other half.

Neptune Trident NP and new DOS!

Marketing isn’t doing the job they need to be doing. Trident should have always be marketed first, as a device to help prevent/detect failures that lead to tank crashes, and second to making your testing life easier. The second should be a bonus. Phosphate/Nitrate testing would be great for...

Neptune Trident NP and new DOS!

If there are only two reagents, not sure why the enclosure is the same size. Also not smart was not making a stackable design if it was going to be two different devices. How in the world are you going to fit this and a normal trident in a 36” wide or less tank stand? I’d venture to guess a good...

    25 mm PVC Coupler

If you’re replacing the valve, considering swapping out for a standard Gate Valve. This is what I did on my old redsea reefer 250. Should be same parts for the 170. Post in thread 'Rostatos Reefer 450 and Reefer 170'...

Improving my coral fragging - coral glue accelerator

Yes. This works fine as an accelerant for all cyanoacrylate based super glues. Beware that the reaction it creates is exothermic, so be sure you dip the coral in the water pretty quickly to keep it from damaging the coral from heat. This is the exact same stuff BRS sells.

    Beginner reefer seeking advice

Bleaching might be overkill unless you’re talking about the rock after removing the coral. Probably good enough just to drain rinse and soak in tap water or let it dry for 48 hours. Aiptasia is tough, but they ain’t no tardigrade! ;) I used to breed aiptasia solely for feeding berghia and I...

    Beginner reefer seeking advice

If you go into this actively knowing that there's a chance you'll have to actively manage aiptasia, then more power to you, please proceed. This is a small tank, so it may be easier to tolerate and manage, but aiptasia are sneaky, little devils that can easily hide from the human eye and where...
