Hey guys, heres my last build hopefully for a long time, this build has taken a while but im glad im taking things slow. I took down my previous tank due to unforeseen circumstances but that didn’t stop me on starting another! Big thanks to @Turkeysammich for helping me pick up this acrylic tank. Although it was too big it had the perfect dimensions for what I wanted done to it.

Then came planning out how big i wanted the tank to be, although it was hard to decide i knew it couldn’t be too big since it was going in an apartment on the 3rd floor. I didn’t want to run the risk of the floor bowing since its a lot of weight for an apartment. In the end decided that it would be a 127g and began taping for cutting. Will played a big part in helping me Frankenstein the tank cause I wouldn’t of been able to do this alone its very intimidating especially when you know something can go wrong if its not done correctly!

Tank dimensions:
Length 51 1/2”
Width 24 1/8”
Height 36”

Once the side panel was cut it was time to slap on a new piece of acrylic that I purchased from Tap plastics. I also ended up armor edging the inside of the tank just to be on the safe side.

Started building the stand after the tanks been sitting for roughly 3 months on my apartment floor. Wasn’t in a rush to get it up and running. Found a guy in Oakland selling a big lot of 4040 Aluminum and built the stand out of that. He was nice enough to even cut it for me to make it easier to build once i got home.

The stand dimensions:
Length 51 1/2”
Width 24 1/8”
Height 36”

I was unsure of what to use for the top of the stand as I didn’t want to use any type of plywood and starboard was pretty expensive. @boun11 recommended me to get MDO plywood so i went out and bought two sheets enough to cut for the top and bottom of the stand. Thanks Boun!

Next on the list was looking for a sump I knew I needed to stay light so i decided acrylic would be best. Big thanks to @popper for building me a cool little sump perfect for the DT. I owe you one Max!

It was time to drill the tank and install the EXT overflow that i picked up from @Srt4eric. Although I’ve done it once on a glass tank with the help of Will i still wasn’t confident on doing it my self. The last thing i would want to do is drill it in the wrong place and mess up the whole thing. Thanks to @Coral reefer for coming over and showing me how it’s properly done. Even helped me plan out the plumbing cause i wasn’t to sure how to do that either.

The overflow is a Modular Marine EXT overflow 1600 GPH with three 1” bulkhead drains.

Nice write up especially with the corner stones of BAR chipping in helping make a solid build!! Love the stand nice work!
Great dimensions tank looks clean did you need to buff the tank out?
Hard to see maybe but did you add any hose clamps on the clear flex return connections or use a heat gun to get a good tight fit?
“ Last build for a while” You’ve been on a roll that may be tough report back in a year on that note ha! Fowlrs tend to run multiple tanks gota have that predator lion fish and eel tank or nine brain Octopoda!
Thanks for the update on the build journal
