65 gallon tank

I was originally seeking a larger tank, than gave up and got a second biocube, than the very next day I saw a post on FB for a 65 gallon tank with sump and cannopy and many extras: ato, 2 heaters ph prob, power strip, either a calc or gfo reactor, and two hydra 32s(not sure if they are dead or not will probably bring to up coming frag swap if someone more knowledge wants to check them out for me was clueless even after videos on how to use/check them. )

The tank from my assesment: the seams all looked good, just a bit dirty. (Plan is to fill it up and run citric acid through the whole system get it cleaned and go from there.)

I traded: exospheres 8 heads, green torch, bicolor hammer 3 heads, bicolor frogspawn 3 heads, green hammer 7-8 heads for the tank plus extras?

Not sure if I got a good deal yet or not lol?
(But I still have more hammers than I gave away at least, I plan to start over on the torch, frogspawn and exospheres. )

Over all i'm totally clueless on the tank and sump how to even put it all together. So It will be a project for me.

I'll share more pictures as I get further along. Greatful for any advice , mainly looking to youtube for how to videos.

I would start with a leak test outside
Fill the tank and the sump
Leave them overnight
Test the lights and other equipment
This one seems to have the pipes running through the bottom of it, does this imply I need to have it all hooked up not to flood? Like return pump as well and would I fill tank first or sump first

Lmao, Originally I would have just filled
it up without thinking it through. Excitement has a way of blocking common sense. But I will go outside when I do it, probably next week, going outta town monday.

If possible
Fill before leaving town
Test as long as possible
If the water is where it’s supposed to be when you return
Ya should be good
Safe travels

Cool pickup! I hope everything ends up working out for you.

I'm with @Kensington Reefer and get that thing filled before you leave and fill it as much as possible without overflowing. Fill up that sump too. Might as well test it out too.

Thanks I plan to, probably can only fill tank 6-8 inches overflow has baffles ( if thats the correct term slots) on top as well as on lower portion of the overflow. I will work on getting it cleaned up and hooked up when I get back to test the whole thing out.

Oof...well, I would temporarily plumb it on the bottom of the tank with some glued caps. Then fill it to the rim!

No hooking up anything
Just filling
Marking fill line
Leave….
Upon return, look at measurement mark
If water has not moved
Should be good
I was referencing That I couldn't fill it all the way up because of the lower slots on overflow box, 8 inches would be as high as I can fill it up with out it being hooked up. Am I right in assuming any water above the lower slots would just spill over and drain the out bottom?

I of course will fill it up as high as I can without it draining out before. My trip and mark the level as you said.

Completed leak test. I also managed to figure out how to hook everything up except a 2 little fishes phosban 150 reactor that came with it.

I'm almost 100 precent sure the tank isn't leaking. However I noticed a small drip that falls into the sump coming from the center pipe. I think I need to take the pipe apart/ checl gaakets and tighten things up. So will drain tank down below overflow and work on that.

I've added a whole 32 ounce container of a product called pump clean (it says contains citric acid.)To get rid of the dead worm shells and white build up. It's had some effect just not the effect I expected. I will let it run for a few days to see if the it just needed more soaking to see if it comes off any easier.

If that fails next plan would beto get some actual citric acid from amazon to try.
