Hey Julio,
It was nice meeting you the other day. I am glad you are sticking with it despite the tank crash and current issues. Looks like you are headed in the right direction! I will let you know when I have other frags available.
G
like wise Gerry, it was nice meeting. I appreciate the frags already. I hope someday I can grow something good to give back as well.

I ended up asking @tribbitt about orange lens clips he had on a tank journal just clipped on a desk in one of his tank pictures. I ordered them from AliExpress like he did. It arrived in less than a week. Must have been US stock. Cost about 17$. I Also saw Orphek is selling them on Amazon for 26$ with one day shipping. Anyways here some pics:

without lens.

Best 17$ I’ve spent towards being able to share what I actually see in my living room with friends and family. Thanks @tribbitt.

I'm glad it's working for you. Try the macro lens, you get get really up close with corals. They do have to be close to the glass though. If you're photographing frags on a rack, or something on a rock near the glass, it's great. Won't focus on anything very far though.

Def radical improvement!

I have! I don’t want to flood the forum and annoy anyone but Here’s a couple:

pardon the aiptasia.

just an awesome kit! Can’t say thank you enough.

quick update on an idea inspired by @gmdcdvm tank journal post. Haven’t seen anyone else do this and it’s a trail in progress. My tank crashed but during the crash GSP was spreading like normal. I debated on removing one of the GSP rocks but now I’ll just try to control it better and still have coral real estate:

reposted trying to get clearer images and did not work lol* figured it out! Landscape is better than portrait for clarity! Took me two years on bar to notice*

Very nice! I don't have any experience with GSP but the hammer coral did kill off the encrusting monti wherever it made contact with the polyps. I will be interested to see how it works out in your tank.

The frags are elevated 1 inch or so from the GSP or they might be engulfed by GSP tentacles completely. Hope the sting slows its growth in repairing itself if it does touch. I like the trees in the grass look a ton though!! It’s what came to my mind when I saw your tank journal. Makes me want to start another tank with just GSP, frogspawn, hammers and torches growing on top lol

DiY stuff Update:
So my macro algae reactor was also neglected during the tank crash. I had burning bush inside of it and Red Gracilaria. It actually went un opened for more than 2 months. When I finally did opens it, it was a slushy of dead algae in the middle and there was mostly Gracilaria that was close to the LEDs alive. With a UV Light I was able to find small leaves of the burning bush that were about nickel size still alive. I cleaned things up and put back what was still usable. A lot still had green slime algae stuck to it. I also added plastic mesh for knitting to separate the two algae’s. Trying to give the burning bush space to grow rather then have the Red Gracilaria bunched against it. I also bought a new USB tower since I plug 3x led strips in the other one was giving out (8$) got a more better built one this time (15$). I also increased the light schedule on the reactor to even longer (10+hrs). Lastly I started to do maintenance on it every 2 weeks or so and the results are awesome:

May 19, I had emptied the slush about two weeks before but forgot to take pictures of what I put back. This is what grew.

This is June 1. The red bush made an amazing come back. You can kinda make out its orange color rather then the dark red Gracilaria.

Picture of the “Mesh” levels I made. Really helped the burning bush have its own space where it can get a lot of light.

Lastly magnetic single frag holder DIY project I did. It was not practical because the materials where expensive but I had epoxy I didn’t use when I first started the tank so that wasn’t technically a cost. I just had to order plastic coated magnets. I feared the magnets would rust if the plastic cracked so I molded them completely with epoxy:

IMG_7295.jpeg
First attempt was chunky and not what I envisioned. I had both white and purple epoxy. I coated the back because it would be in the water since I have a AiO system.

Try #2&3 where better and better. Sleeker and low profile. The 3rd one I gave to my friend and the magnet will be outside the water so no need for the epoxy.

And that’s how it looks in the tank with a frag I got form @Alexander1312.

I'm not 100% sure if molded epoxy is fully waterproof or not, especially since I've had some disintegrate over time. Most of the commercial ones use an epoxy resin or plasticized rubber if I recall.

Good to know. The stuff drys rock solid and people use it to hold there rockwork together so I wouldn’t have guessed it disintegrates over time. It is the second layer added because the magnets are advertised as plastic coated and water proof themselves. I’ll have to update overtime.

Yeah it's varied for me. I've pulled off 10+year stuff from rocks like the breakdown I did recently. But I've had other stuff turn back into goo like this one from a swap:

Different lots or expired batches, who knows.

That looks nasty for sure. I hope mine lasts/ I’ll be able to see them brittle up before they look like the chips/goop in that picture.
