Best peninsular tank ever?

I'm usually skeptical about peninsular tank but this one got me floored.

Amazing engineering.
Really nice tank coral/fish.
But I just don't know. Just seems weird, huge, and in the middle of the room.
 
Far be it for me to criticize (*snicker* yeah right!), and I'm sure (hoping) an engineer worked on those. But I would be worried about those top beams that the metal anchored into, looks like the only thing keeping that tank up is the sheering strength of those bolts that are holding that middle beam to the other beams.

Wonder if that "stand" is in any way cantilevered on the other side of that wall, i.e. the rest of the house is balancing it.

That said it looks like a beautiful tank, so the person gets kudos for that :)

The firm that did this tank has built similar tank with the same technique. Also this tank has been up for 5 years

A 200G glass tank weighs around 2000 pounds when full.
The "safe" load for a normal type-2 5/16 bolt = 270-575 pound depending on usage.
The "breaking" point is up around 4000 pounds. But really - you do not design to that number!!!

Stainless is weaker.
I don't know exact tank size, bolt size, or bolt type of course.

But yeah, 4 bolts would probably not break, for a while, maybe.

And those top beams are not full beams. They are short beams bolted together.

Scary.
 
Looks like I've got my next tank build ready to get going.

I agree with most of you in regards to the engineering. Some areas are way stronger than needed but then implemented in ways that create weakness. I would definitely make a few changes but love the inspiration.
