Our mission

Blue photosynthetic sponge

Any advice on care for the sponge?
Lighting par?
flow?
It doesn't sting other corals, correct?
It seems pretty forgiving.

I’ve had it mid-level in my tank, best guess is moderate light. It was growing great when PAR in the area was about 100, and is still growing great with PAR at 200.

I’d say mild to moderate flow (it’s soft and moves with the current, so high flow would be too much).

I haven’t seen it injure any nearby corals, including mushrooms, SPS, and LPS. It did irritate some acan polyps but it seemed physical not chemical- was directly rubbing on them, seemed fine once I trimmed it back.

Sponge frags adhered to rubble and ready to go to CFM tomorrow :)

I have made and will be making a bunch more generous frags of this interesting photosynthetic sponge, free for supporting members. Very forgiving, should thrive under a wide variety of conditions. No major pests to report.

Pickup in Walnut Creek.

I made a bunch more large frags tonight. Will take a week or so to attach to rocks, but you could pick them up before. If you haven’t already, PM me if interested. If we have interest in another geographic area like San Jose area maybe someone could bring several frags down.
