Can rotifeast be frozen?

I bought a 16oz bottle of rotifeast, and really doubt that I'll be able to go through the whole bottle before the expiration date in 2 months. Any idea if I can just freeze half the bottle and defrost it at a later date?

Well. From time to time my rotifeast would freeze in the refridgerator (I like cold milk) I just continued to use it as the rotifers weren't alive anyway.

I never noticed anything. But I'm sure gresham will let you know.

Thanks Chris. I figured the same; the rotifers aren't alive, so it'll probably be ok to freeze them for future use. I'll let Gresham chime in though.

Hope the frags are doing well. :)

How much of a growth rate increase can be expected from a tank that is fed rotifeast vs an otherwise identical tank that isnt?

Freezing is not recommended. The media is not designed to handle freezing and some of the salts most likely will crystalize. Not to mention freezing tends to burst the cell walls of the rotifers leaking out anything good about them.
