that is very cool. i read a discussion online about something similar to this a while back.
i don't see why it couldn't be done. as long as a vacuum is kept on the left (elevated) portion it should hold. if air starts getting into that pump however...
I'd love to be around when one of the seals goes near the top
Although with a salt environment in mind, I think if you put a massive overflow on one side of the bottom section if the seal does go maybe it can contain a bunch of the water to a "reservoir of oops" under.
Nah... nevermind too many potential issues involved here
Freshwater would have the same issues as salt in that respect right?
how about this one? there's more room for adding stuff for the "ZOMG water everywheres"

I can't imagine why you'd want to have an air bubbler inside the tank like that, adding air to that low pressure zone is going to reverse everything you do!
I watched the video on how to clean the freshwater version, seemed pretty easy, vacuum the gunk from the bottom, and mag float the sides and top like normal. The fowlr would be a little more difficult because the rocks might be in the way, and once you start getting coraline algae, and those little white worms, you would have issues.
I think I might set one of these up, just a small one for a betta
