Chaeto

How do you know when to harvest?
When it is so full the cheato at the bottom is starting to die, you waited too long. I try to keep a 6"- 8" sized chunk, then grow it to 10" and then harvest back to 6" ball. The key is not harvesting so much that your cheato no longer uptakes nutrients at a reliable rate, but isn't so large it smothers itself.

Same for me except that I notice it needing to be trimmed back looking at the top of the clump. It gets really compacted, can even push the top layer out of the water.

The goal is to have as many strands as possible able to get light and have space to grow.
